Your IP address allows websites to record your visit and remember your preferences when you return. In theory, someone could work out where you lived and who you were from your IP address.
For most people most of the time, this isn't a concern, as reputable sites are trustworthy, and protect private data. However, if you want to hide your IP address, Hide IP NG can help. Working in Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, Hide IP NG adds an onn-off swithc to your browser, so you can choose when to hid your address.
For the majority of sites we used, Hide IP NG worked well to hide the IP address of our compter. It however, nationally limited video sites did not work properly, so it's not a way to get around copyright laws.
Hiding your IP address does not make you anonymous, nor much safer on the web. While Hide IP NG isn't a terrible application, it actually makes using the web harder in some cases, while doing little to improve it in others.
